The following article concerns murders in Monterey County, CA that were unsolved at the time of publication. One relevant case mentioned here is that of Donna Braun.

Other cases of potential interest that I plan to research further are those of Joseph Peralta, Howard Painter, Hubert Bennett & June Little, Mary Cruz Chapa, Larry Von Handschke, Martin Wynibow, Michael Boyer, Stephanie Lewis, Martina Salas-Lerma, and John Marquez Gomez. 

The article also alludes to the "mass murder of four family members in their home" in Seaside in 1977. This refers to the Aug. 9, 1977 murders of Josephine Smith, Suzanne & Rachel Harris, and Renee Ferguson, which have since been solved; Josephine's grandson — Suzanne's nephew, cousin of Rachel and Renee — Harold Bicknell, was convicted for the murders.
