Relevant cold cases mentioned in the article below are those of Debbie Shelton, Linda Carol Anderson, Deborah Cargill, Diane Steffy, Jennifer McDowell, Mary Jo Oldfield, and Emma Jean Pier. Also listed among the unsolved murders at the end of the article are two unidentified decedents found in 1974, Aptos John Doe and Mill Valley John Doe. 

The 1976 murder of Karen Percifield was solved in 2023. The murders of Joan Mack and Christopher Hall, in 1984 and 1985, respectively, have also been solved with the confession of Terry Childs. Also mentioned in the article is the murder of Laura Beyerly; Laura's boyfriend, whom she broke up with on the day of her disappearance, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Laura's death in 2007, five years after this article was published. 

Note that at least two victim's names are misspelled in the list at the end of the article: the second 1976 victim is Karen Piercifeld, and the fourth 1979 victim is Halsey John Wool.
