KCSO Files on Wyoming Missing Girls
A full explanation of the source of these files can be found here.
The first four pages of this pdf were sourced from Box 23, Folder 10 of the King County Sheriff Office (KCSO)'s Dropbox; these pages were sent from the Carbon County (WY) Sheriff's Office to the KCSO in May 1975. I have also included, as the final page of this pdf, a missing persons poster for Jayleen Banker that was sent to KCSO sometime between Sept. 1974 and April 1975; this was retrieved from pg. 24 of Box 4, Folder 16, "Out of State Cases," though I have included it here due to being related to these other Wyoming disappearances.
The files concern the Rawlins, Wyoming disappearances of four girls between the ages of ten and nineteen: Carlene Brown, Christy Gross, Deborah Rae Meyer, and Jayleen Dawn Banker. All four girls went missing in July and August 1974, with all but Deborah specifically going missing from the Rawlins Rodeo. As of at least 2025, the girls are thought to possibly be victims of suspected serial killer Royal Russell Long.
Jayleen Banker's remains were found in late April 1975, just a few weeks before the other files in this document were sent to KCSO; her missing persons poster was therefore not sent to KCSO at the same time as the others, but instead sometime earlier, prior to her body being found.
Christy Gross's remains were found in 1983; however, Carlene Brown, who she disappeared with, is still missing as of September 2025, as is Deborah Meyer. All four cases are still officially unsolved.
Upon opening a post (such as this one), please then open the pdf in another tab in order to see the comments I have left on the document, which contain important information regarding cases that have since been solved, the contents of redacted details, missing persons who have since been located, corrections to typos/factual errors, etc.
