Bakersfield Californian, May 1979

The following articles concern the murder of Artice Carter. Two of the articles were published prior to her identification, and therefore overestimate her age; Artecia was only 14 years old when she died. Furthermore, while all newspaper articles state that her first name was "Artice," according to the California Death Index her full name is Artecia Marie Carter, born July 5, 1964 in Oklahoma; OK birth records, however, state that her first name was in fact Artice, and she was born in Oklahoma County.
