The following article concerns homicides in Placer County, CA that were unsolved as of February 1985. Relevant cases mentioned here are those of Clendon Ray Baker, Arlene Papac, Amber Hope McDonald, Placer County Jane Doe 1980, and Melinda Beardsley (aka Emigrant Gap Jane Doe 1977).

Also relevant are the "young woman [...] burned to death July 17, 1984," and "skull found by hikers in the Applegate area," who have since been identified as Suesan Knorr and Patricia Ann Rose, respectively. Knorr's murder has since been solved, while Rose's has not.
