The Kidnapping of Lynn Ruth Connes, May 1976

Lynn Connes, 20, lived in an apartment at 2817 Regent St in Berkeley, Alameda County, CA and worked part-time as a telephone solicitor in Marin County at the time of her disappearance.

Lynn had recently advertised for employment as a photographer's model in the newspaper, and a man who identified himself as "Jeff" called her, answering her ad. They agreed to meet at the Bateau Ivre Restaurant at 2629 Telegraph Ave, four blocks from Lynn's home.

On Thursday, May 20, 1976, Lynn was last seen at her residence, which she then left to meet with "Jeff." An unidentified waitress at the Bateau Ivre Restaurant stated that a woman matching Lynn's description came to the restaurant at 10:15am. Although the restaurant was closed, the waitress let her sit at a table to wait for someone. She has never been seen again.

No one, including the waitress, saw the woman leave the restaurant. Law enforcement found Lynn's locked bicycle on the corner outside the eatery. She has never been found, and "Jeff" has never been identified.

Lynn was a white female with green eyes and blonde hair. At the time of her disappearance she was 20 years old, 5'4, and 110 lbs. She has a scar on her lower lip, as well as freckles. When she was last seen she was wearing a black top, tan scarf, black bell-bottom pants, and a silver ring with an etched pattern. At the time of her disappearance, her hair was shoulder-length and worn parted in the center. She was born on June 21, 1955; if alive today she would be 69 years old.

Lynn's dental x-rays and DNA are available for comparison. She has 21 rule-outs on NamUs, including one Jane Doe that has since been identified as Karen Heverly. Her NamUs case, #MP594, was created and last updated on December 12, 2008 and June 10, 2024, respectively.

Foul play is suspected in her case, and she is classified as Endangered Missing on Doe Network and Charley Project.

Anyone with information concerning Lynn's disappearance is urged contact the Berkeley Police Department at (510) 981-5900. The agency case number is 27536-76. Any little piece of information counts.

** While I originally had this case tagged as "Database," as I found it while going through NamUs, etc., I have since found that Lynn has been brought up in a Zodiac forum at least once in an "All Other Possible Zodiac Victims" thread, so I have since changed this case to a "Connection."
