The Disappearance of Jacqueline Ann Gasperian, July 1970

Jacqueline Gasperian, 34, often went by "Lin" or "Lynn" and sometimes used her maiden name, Brandon. She was staying with a friend, Laurie Daniels, in LA on Overland Ave at the time she disappeared. She was last seen in Redondo Beach, LA County, CA in July 1970 and/or sometime in the summer or early autumn months of 1970 (though the majority of sources state July).

Jacqueline was reportedly driving Laurie's vehicle when it was then found abandoned on the Santa Monica Freeway. All of Lin's possessions were inside the abandoned car. She has never been seen or heard from since.

Lin was born on July 1, 1936. She grew up in foster care, and as an adult she married and had two sons. She and her husband divorced in 1962, when she was 25-6 years old. In January 1970, while she was living in Phoenix, AZ, Lin sent her sons to live with their father in Los Angeles, as she was having trouble finding/maintaining a job. She has ties to Wisconsin, Arizona, and California.

Lin is a white female with red hair and either blue or hazel eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was 34 years old, 5'6, and 110 lbs. She has a 6-8in vertical scar on her abdomen from gastric bypass surgery; a photo of it is available on the Charley Project. There are also photos of her prior to her surgery and weight loss on all modern databases. There is also a photo of Lin either with a blonde wig or with her hair dyed blonde. It is unknown what clothing or jewelry she was wearing when she went missing.

Lin was a heavy smoker at the time of her disappearance and had heavy tar buildup on her teeth. However, her dental x-rays/records are unavailable. The availability of her fingerprints and DNA for comparison is unknown.

Lin has zero MP rule-outs on NamUs. However, a woman named "Garee Gasperian" who went missing from CA is on the exclusion list of Twenty-Nine Palms Jane Doe 1970 (who is present on this timeline); it does not lead to an MP's NamUs profile. Lin is the only person with the surname Gasperian who has been reported missing and is on NamUs.

Because of this, on March 27, 2025, I submitted Jacqueline Gasperian and Twentynine Palms Jane Doe 1970 as a possible match through the Doe Network in order to confirm that "Garee Gasperian" is Lin and/or that they have been ruled out as being a match. That same day, Mary Bell of DN responded, "Thank you for the suggested match. I don't show any comparison of these having been done so I will have our panel look at it. If [it] is proven to be a positive match, I will contact you further."

On June 13, 2025, I received confirmation from Mary Bell of the Doe Network that the match between Jane Doe and Jacqueline Gasperian had already been ruled out.

Lin's NamUs case was created on June 19, 2019 and last updated on March 12, 2024. Her Doe Network profile was added and last updated on June 6, 2024, while her Charley Project page was last updated on February 5, 2020.

Lin is classified as Missing and Endangered Missing on the Doe Network and Charley Project, respectively. Anyone with information about her disappearance is encouraged to contact the Redondo Beach PD at (310) 379-2477. The agency case number is 13-589.
