The Disappearance of Christine Betty Moore, May 1971

Christine was born Christine Betty Lowe on February 20, 1936 in Kern County, CA. Her parents are William M Lowe and Beulah Alice Lowe (nee Holland), who was part Cherokee. She has three older siblings — LaVada Williams, James, and Mildred Lilly — and three younger siblings, Doyle Ray (b1938), Thomas Eugene (b1940), and Loretta Faye Wagoner (b1943). Christine's father William passed away on November 19 1969 in McFarland, Kern County, CA at age 70.

Christine married James H Moore (b1911) in 1964 when she was 28 years old, and he was 53. They divorced in October 1970, however in the 1971 city directory, Christine was listed as living with James at 718 Oxford St in Delano, Kern County, CA. James had been living at that address since at least 1967. He was remarried, this time to a woman named Joyce, by 1979.

Christine was 35 years old at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen by family when she visited her mother in McFarland, Kern County, CA in May 1971. Christine's mother Beulah is listed as living at 249 1/2 Lockwood Ave in McFarland, Kern County, CA in both the 1971 and 1973 city directories.

The exact date of Christine's disappearance is unknown. Saturday, May 1, 1971 is listed as her date of last contact by most sources as a placeholder, though CA DOJ uses the date January 1, 1971.

Very few details are available in Christine's case. She may use her maiden name, Lowe. She is a 5'8 white woman who weighed 140-150 lbs at the time of her disappearance. The Charley Project, however, lists her as 135-150 lbs.

Christine has brown hair and brown eyes. According to Doe Network, it is unknown if her dentals, fingerprints, or DNA are available. Only one UID is listed on Christine's rule-out list in NamUs: Winchester, VA Jane Doe (1991).

All three of Christine's younger siblings, as well as her mother, died within less than ten years after Christine's disappearance. Doyle Raye Lowe died on December 4, 1972 in Kern County at age 34. Thomas Eugene Lowe died on February 12, 1974 in Bakersfield, Kern County, CA at age 34 in an automobile accident. Loretta Faye Wagoner died on February 25, 1978 in McFarland, CA, also at age 34. Christine was not listed among surviving relatives in Thomas's obituary. Beulah passed away on August 15, 1978 in McFarland.
